Hi
Getting towards end of 12 months of Kaspersky 2011 slowing down my pc and looking at getting AvastFree.
However, one of the useful aspects of Kaspersky was the facility to have a blocked sender option.
So, looking to get a free spam blocker to work alongside Avast and Thunderbird that I can apply a blocked senders list.
I am aware of the filtering functions in Thunderbird, but these do not actually block unwanted senders, merely accept the messages before deletion.
Any advice please.

I used to use SpamBayes, but I don't know if it's actively supported still. It used to learn as you tagged spam, getting better the longer you used it.0

It certainly used to learn some years ago, then spammers had the bright idea of using extracts from ordinary books to clog up the filters. I've not seen that type of spam for at least a year or two now, which probably means that they have no need to defeat the antispam Bayesian techniques any more...I used to use SpamBayes, but I don't know if it's actively supported still. Thanks for the info.
Looked at Spambayes but its not supported by thunderbird v12.
Really looking for something that can block unwanted senders and will work with more than one email address.
Does such a thing exist or is it just as well using the Thunderbird and gmail filters?0 -
You could try Mailwasher, I believe it's free for one email account

Thanks for that. But as I said I need it to cover more than one mail account.0 -
It's not an ideal solution, but you could get a duplicate email address with GMX for each existing account you have. Then set each GMX account to collect the mail from your "real" accounts, enable the GMX spam filter, then set Thunderbird to collect mail from the GMX accounts...0
