Which Processor?

Yes, but we all know that the people most compelled to post on the Mesh forum are those with complains. People who have had no problems whatsoever won't be bothered to post, therefore the forum looks one-sided.
I agree it is a self selected sample, but from personal experience I can say that customer service is woeful, so it's fine if you never have a problem but if you do you can't rely on onsite warranty and you'll be without a pc for a month. Then you may be lucky and it will be fixed. Although in our situation it's gone back a second time, so still no working pc after nearly four months. So my only experience of Mesh has been (and still is ongoing) a very bad one. So I definitely wouldn't recommend them based on the customer service alone. It would be less hassle and far quicker to have fixed the problems ourselves and voided their warranty. The hexus chat forum in my opinion will only be the tip of the iceberg because most Mesh customers won't even know about it and it has been the ONLY way I've been able to get anything done by Mesh. Going by telephone is a joke."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I too have personal experience of Mesh.
I bought a £1700 PC about a year ago and its has been performing quite well. To be honest, I have had a few components replaced (dodgy fans), but frankly with ALL new PCs failures of components should be expected bearing in mind the complexities of these things.
Mesh were quick to respond after I posted my greivances on their forum, and Davey has been excellent. The repair guys tend to take a few days to come out (3-5 days) and I've had one turn up without the replacement part  Mesh's customer service is OK. Its not fantastic but certainly a lot better than other companies where you can't even get someone to pick up the phone or answer an email. At least Mesh do respond (especially if you use the Hexus forums), but repairs times are a little slow
I think we can all agree that Mesh's customer service is a bit hit-and-miss (variable). I've had quite a good experience but SUPERSCAPER has had a bad experience.Lack of money is the root of all evil.

I can't praise the likes of Davey etc on the forums highly enough, we couldn't get anything done at all without them, it seems unfortunate that not everyone in Mesh's employ are as diligent over their work. Obviously it's anecdotal evidence from myself and nullogik and I'm sure there are stories similar to ours at almost every single company.
When my dad phoned them up before Christmas he got someone with a really bad stutter, now I know it probably isn't a politically correct thing to say but that cost a lot of money in phone time and it would seem odd to put someone with such a bad stutter on customer service. I'm going off topic I know it was just something else I suddenly remembered adding to the bad experiences.
As for expecting failures, I think I disagree a bit. The software side is complex but for spending that amount of money I wouldn't expect any hardware failures until well after the warranty expiration. The only things I can think of failing in my home built pc (and I'm not a pc building professional like Mesh) failed after at least 3-4 years of heavy use."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I'd go for the better processor. A 1GB stick of DDR2 RAM will set you back less than £50, so that £95 they're charging is a ripoff (and this price in only going to come down). The double memory offer means they're trying to get rid of older stock, which means that it might not be just the processor that's older (I wouldn't be surprised if the memory is slower, for example).
Oh, and as for Mesh. I bought a computer off them 5 years ago, and it's still going strong (still on Windows 98
). Obviously though it's when stuff starts to go wrong that you really learn how good the customer service is, and mine's always ran fine. 0
