Given the continued Greek crisis and Spanish bank situation. (Bankia shares plunge again on worries over finances)
If Santander got into problems, the £85k guarantee, how long would it take to get money back in the event of the worst case scenario?

    My only experience with the FSCS compensation has been with the collapse of Icesave back in October 2008. Fortunately I had managed to get the bulk of my money out before the proverbial hit the fan.

    I had only a small amount of interest (less than £100) owed to me and it took about a month for the FSCS to compensate me and pay it into my bank account. Whether larger claims took longer I don't know.

    I too am concerned about Santander as I have a Bradford & Bingley a/c with just over £50k in it which the Spanish bank took over.
