I guess you could first off ask if the person that you referred (ie the email address) has now registered with pigsback and claimed their first reward. They're clearly going to say yes, so maybe then you could argue that regardless of if their tracking system actually tracked it, that you have obviously referred them to pigsback because you can give them the email address, day of signing up and the fact that you know they have claimed their first reward etc.
At the end of the day, if they can see that you did send a referral to a certain email address that has since signed up and both parties concerned are definate that they followed the referral and agree that it was you that referred them, i don't see how they can refuse the points.
Technology isn't always 100% perfect, and pigsback need to realise this and get a back up plan to ensure that people who are spreading the pigsback word for them, get the rewards that they deserve. I don't think it's enough for them to just be able to say 'oh yeah well we can see you did send them the referral and that they signed up, but we're not giving you the points as our tracking system didn't pick it up, end of discussion', it's not fair on the members that are making the effort to get their friends to sign up on the basis that they'd get points for doing so. Afterall, pigsback will make money from each and every person who is signed up that use their accounts, and the ones that don't really use their accounts will still be good for pigsback to be able to say to prospective advertisers etc that they have XXXX amount of members that they can get their advertisement seen by.
Int he talkback discussion a while back, i suggested to pigsback that they have a secondary method of making sure referrals are matched up/tracked by also having the person signing up, putting the referrers pigsback id (email) or unique referral code into a box on the sign up page. That way, they don't have to just rely on a system that doesn't always track 100% of the time.
ive noticed this is happening alot with pigsback concerning referal points not being paid, the one thing i have noticed as well is that it is the person who has refered the person who is always emailing pigsback about not being given the points...
has anyone ever asked the referred person to complain to pigsback stating that they have indeed used the referal link sent by pigsback to sign up and that they have claimed their voucher/prize so would like their friend to be givn their points? if both referer and referred email and complain then maybe pigsback will back down and give the points as they cant argue with both of you about it...
just a suggestion as i havent read of anyone doing it that way yet....0 -

IMHO its still misleading because presumably its just the 'Click here to register' link that actually contains the referral information, not the other clickable 'pigsback.com' links. Question is... are these clickable links in other email progs or is that gmail's doing?!
I'm not sure if that's any use at all, but I thought I'd explain it to anyone not familiar with gmail... its worth making sure any friends who are allow pics from curly@pigsback.com before they click to register.
I believe all the different links ARE included on most email clients (my fiance got them when i referred him, as did my friend and mother on hotmail) so it's clearly got to be pigsbacks doing.
Why don't they just keep it simple, to one link so there's no chance of confusion, and if this is why some people aren't getting their referral points then i think that's wrong of them to deny them really.
There really does only need to be one link in a referral email in my opinion.
The few people i have referred, i've always gotten my points for.. but i can understand how frustrating it must be for the people who have not.Lost lbs =

About the referrals not working with gmail... I sent myself a referral email to a second gmail account that I have and this is what arrived:
It looks like that cos gmail is set to not show images as a defualt, at the top of each email is a link like this:
And when its clicked the page appears as its supposed to:
So now the 'Click here to register' button is visible.
IMHO its still misleading because presumably its just the 'Click here to register' link that actually contains the referral information, not the other clickable 'pigsback.com' links. Question is... are these clickable links in other email progs or is that gmail's doing?!

I think this is were we went wrong. I didn't get the points when my husband joined but I think he may have clicked the first link at the top of the email (which incedentally takes you to a page identical to if you click the big link at the bottom). So make sure you click the 'click here to register link' as the other links dont seem to work.0 -

all the people I have referred just had one, the big banner saying click here to register...no other links, and I got the points with no problem.
I think it all depends on how your email is set up.0 -
