Proof of no claims

I changed Hubbys car insurance last week as the renewal quote was too high. Hubby rang them to cancel last Tuesday and asked them to send confermation that he had cancelled and also letter of proof for his 8 years no claim.
We have not recieved anything from them, so how can we prove his no claims to the other company?
We got no paper work with renewal quote just a price, normally with other companies we have had in the past we get a letter with it on at renewal.
Does the company have to provide these details when you request them?
The company is Admiral insurance.

Is Admiral the new or old company?
You normally would use the renewal quote as they need to include the schedule, which includes your NCD, for you to be able to confirm all the details that they hold are still correct.0 -
Admiral is the old company, all I have is a renewal quote price, no paperwork came with it, I found it odd when it came as I have always had paperwork with the renewal quote.
It said to check paperwork online, even if I look online surely the other company are not going to accept a printed copy they will want original paperwork and Admiral have not sent me any.0 -
If you can download your renewal notice online then the new company shouldn't be awkward about accepting it. (MAny online insurers nowadays put all docs online for download (including the much more important certificate!)0

They don't advertise it but the new insurer can ring the old insurer for confirmation. I have had them do this twice when the old insurer is taking ages to send the proof or when it has been lost in the post. You do need to make sure the old insurer know you have given permission for the new insurer to do this, I rang them in advance to tell them to expect a call and then made sure the new insurer had the exact details that they may get asked about (car registration previously insured etc).0

I'm having this issue at present with Endsleigh, they've confirmed they haven't sent it in the post or uploaded to my account and that they'll email proof to me, I'm still waiting...0
