Car insurance for returning resident

One of my expat friends is talking about returning to the UK and has been away for 6 years, living around Asia. He is 63 years old and did have NCB before leaving but this will now have expired.

He has not been driving regularly and anyway proof of having sustained no claims here would probably not help him reduce premiums.

Is there any insurance companies or comparison sites you could guide him to that would maybe give some sort of introductory bonus (if that still exists)? He was born in UK.

Introductory bonuses are normally automatically applied (for my last personal lines customers it was auto given to anyone with no claims in 3 years but no NCD) and so when applying through aggregators, insurers, brokers etc the prices listed are normally already inclusive of any discounts.

Going back to his last insurer in the UK and seeing what they can do may be worth while but dont expect it to succeed.

Thanks for that, he had visions of paying well over a Grand for a secondhand 1600cc runabout, so maybe he may get this a little cheaper by the sounds of it. His last insurer was More Than but he said he was told NCB would not be allowed after 2 years expiry of last policy.
