DFS PPI Reclaim - no docs, not on credit file, advice please?

Hi there,
Back in early 2006 I purchased some furniture (sofa etc.) from DFS on a credit agreement. At the time, I clearly remember the salesman asking me if I wanted PPI, and assuring me it would be at no extra cost (which of course was wrong!), and like a fool I signed the agreement, resulting in me paying a fair few extra hundred quid ... so I'm guessing this would be classed as mis-selling?
So I've been wondering about making a claim for this, only problem being I no longer have a copy of the credit agreement (unfortunately shredded a few years back during some spring cleaning!). I rang DFS (Farnborough branch) to ask if they can provide a copy of the agreement, and they told me that due to data protection they don't (or aren't allows) keep copies of sales/credit agreements ...?!
I then tried checking my credit file (via Credit Expert) but it's not on there (I guess because the purchase was around 6 years ago).
So my question is, have I got any hope of making a claim for this, without any paperwork/record of the agreement?!
Thanks!

You could SAR them to be sure they don't any docs but beyond tat it'd be difficult to claim with no evidence of the account let alone the PPIDefaultless as of 12th Sept 2012BugsyBrowne wrote: »Listen here default Dave why don't you take your bullsh*t and stick it up your defaulted ar*e and then stick your defaulted credit report and stick it in your defaulted gob.0

Hi
You can still continue to make a reclaim on the ppi, use the account number, that is fine, not everyone can manage to get hold of the paperwork and nor do you require the figures to write on the complaint questionnaire.
They should send you a breakdown once resolved, or you can request for this.
(They will try tracking it down by using the account number, which you can find on the bank statements of where you paid for the monthly repayments, or call into your bank and ask them to check this out for you, but failing that you could request a SAR).
Reclaim questionnaire link below, complete and send to the ones who set this up, I assume in your case DFS, even though the payment may have been made to the lender, you still pursue the ones who sold you the policy.
Keep a copy for yourself as well.
Good luck.

For them to have told you it was at no extra cost, where you now found that this was incorrect, then in my view yes you can make a reclaim on that, it was mis-leading of them to tell you this. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Further details, contacts etc of DFS.

They also have an email contact as well, so if you email, ask them to confirm receipt of your complaint, but personally I think hard-copy post and get proof from your local post office will be ok, as you can check the status of delivery via track and trace (Royal Mail website). The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi
I also have a claim in with DFS. I checked my paperwork last Christmas and found I had PPI, I had no recollection of being advised about it, I thought it was part of the stainguard. I wrote in January using the template letter with all the info, they responded in March asking for the info (again) to which I responded. I received a letter last week saying they will settle provided a give them a copy of the Finance Agreement. The Agreement was with them but I only have a copy of the Sales Agreement. I am going to bluff it and try and squeeze a settlement out of them unless anyone has any other suggestions?
Many thanks0 -
Get back in touch and tell them to give you the info back that you have sent to them for this claim as you are passing this over to the FOS as this was Single Premium PPI and if they are prepared to settle, then they should do so without the agreement as they must know you were mis sold to be prepared to settle, see what they come back with.0

Does anyone know who their finance people were please? Who direct debits would have been paid to? Thank you0

You go to DFS store that you made the purchase from, or, DFS head office.
DFS sold you the PPI not the finance company.0
