Frederickson Intl (Debt Collection) Fraudulent Credit Card Payment

Just checked my cc statement online and a £2k+ payment to the above went through yesterday. I owe no money apart from intra-month credit card (clear to zero every month). How could they put this through ? Presumable card not present transactions must have customer name / address etc otherwise they fail and surely even a debt collect agency would think it odd that Mr Smith was trying to clear a debt with Mr Jones' card ?

Anyway spoke to my bank who have removed it and their fraud office now involved. Also ckecked my credit report as my other concern was that someone was running up a debt in my name that I wasn't aware of but that's squeaky clean too.

Nevertheless highly concerning

CNP transactions can be put through with just the card number, card holder name and expiry date, anything else is extra which normally gives the merchant lower rates and removes liability. Even the CVV was introduced around 10 years ago and is not required for CNP transactions, although I don't know of many acquirers who would put a transaction through without it.
