Hi, The cooling fan on my Advent 6311, seems to be running a lot these days and slows down the programme .
i have checked for dust and rubbish in the fan grill, it seems to be clear.
What do i do next?

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
There could be a build of dust/fluff on the inside of the grill which will look like a layer of felt - just about impossible to remove without opening up the laptop. Look for a cover near where the fan is on the back.
on that model there are 9 screws which keep the back cover on. Undo them, take the cover off, and the fan's top-left of the laptop. You need to undo the 2 or 3 tiny screws holding the fan's cover off to get to the furry slug to remove it..look at the diagram on this page (scroll down to the drawing)

As above, clearing the grille is not suffficent-you have to get right into the ducting and fan and physically remove the compacted crud.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
