Would like to get a kitchen fitted before September - it that a reasonable timescale?

I'd like to get a kitchen fitted before September, is it a reasonable timescale, or have I left it too late?

We are getting the ceiling plastered next week and we'd need a new socket installed before the work could commence, but apart from that it would just be fitting (inc sink) and then tiling the backsplash and floor when it's done.

Can't really let it over-run as we are expecting a new baby in September.

Which kitchen companies deliver the quickest? I have fancied a B&Q one, but my sister said hers took a while to be delivered.

Yes, you could order a Howdens kitchen and get it delivered this Saturday...... fitter will take a few days to fit it, so you could do it by the end of May if you really want.

Avoid B and Q, Homebase etc! Search for the multiple reasons why.

Thanks Suisi, I will pop up to howdens on Saturday and have a look. Are Howdens expensive?

It would also be worth seeing a few local independents / recommendations from people you know. They can sometimes be more flexible in their timings, as well as usually delivering more value for money.

It took me a year to decide what I wanted, but the actual wiring, fitting, tiling etc took less than a week.

Don't forget, you'll need a trade account to purchase from Howdens (or know someone that does).

Definately possible, our new kitchen has taken about a month turnaround, from making the decision to go for it, finding the kitchen fitter, getting the kitchen designed, delivered and installed. We went with Benchmarx via our fitter, and delivery was pretty quick. We also had plastering, electrics and new flooring put in so almost the whole hog. I've sourced the appliances myself online, to get the better makes for the best price, even bought a brand new Neff oven on ebay for £200 less than the retail price.

You'd be surprised to know that Bosch, Neff and Siemens dont actually publish a retail price on their products. They have trade prices only so while you may have definitely secured a good price on the Neff oven, too may retailers set arbitrary retail prices and them offer spoof discounts.

With regards the OP's question - yes its easily possible to get a September installation. Most English suppliers work 2-3 weeks ahead and European supplies are on 4-6 week lead.

B&Q kitchens are well worth a look at, they are a decent quality, even for the budget range.
