Bailiff/Reposession/Police Auctions

Just caught a few minutes of "Beat the Bailiffs" on BBC1 this morning and noticed a lot of nearly new stuff being auctioned for about 20% of its initial price and usually a lot less than I'd pay for stuff second hand.
Any idea where/when these auctions are held and where I can get more information about them? Google searches just bring up fee-paying sites usually asking for about £12 up front - I only want to pay this if its a genuine lead, so does anyone know which sites are genuine and which aren't?
I'm moving house in about a month, and will need to buy all new furniture/normal housey objects, and this looks like a good way of getting it at a reduced price.
All help appreciated!

Go to https://www.yell.com and search for auction rooms.
Phone them and ask what sort of items they auction. A lot will do baliff repossesions or unclaimed lost property. Some even sell ex showhouse furniture.
Don't expect to buy a £50,000 Porche for £3000 and a £1250 photocopier for £25 as adverts for auction directories seem to imply.(".)0 -
lol I don't expect those sorts of items, but looking for a dining table and chairs for less than £500 would be nice0

yes, you can get great stuff, espec. tables and chairs etc.
all the info you need is on google for free - try looking harder. Search police auctions and your city or nearest large city. You will find the info you need.0 -
Bumblebee is an official Police auction site that a lot of UK police forces use - sometimes there's lots of things on it, sometimes very little, you have to keep looking. It tells you which Police force is the seller for each item.:)

I saw this the other day - had the auction name in the background but I can't remember what it was. Have to watch on Mon.0
