Cement Help

Hi there

I have to do some maintenance on the outside of my flat. I've only been a home owner for 5 months so I'm a novice DIYer but keen to try and learn.

There's a small painted brick wall and some painted victorian stone work around the bay windows that look very shabby.

My plan of action :j:
1.Use a heat gun and scraper, then sander to take off what i can of the old peeling paint.
2. make up some mortar - (4 parts sand, 1 part cement?)
3.Use the mortar to repair the wall, which has cracked and is wobbly
4.use some mortar to patch up the stonework where it's chipped and uneven (should I use a higher cement concentration for this?)
5. Use a primer on the stone work and wall, then masonary paint them both. (how long do I need to give the mortar to dry before painting over it? do I need to cover it in anyway while it dries...obvs i'll try and pick sunny days)

Answers to my questions or suggestions of an alternative plan will be greatly appreciated.

thanks
