ebay scam - be careful

I have recieved two questions from members in the last 3 days that look like this

Hello,
My name is Whitney Chappel.

I just saw this item of yours and I remember seeing the same item two days ago, take a look:

http://www.brumandu.be/usr/ebay/eBayISAPI.dll.MyeBay&CurrentPage190072360175=MyeBayMyMessages&ssPageName.html

and

Hello,
My name is Luella Bunten.

I just saw this item of yours and I remember seeing the same item two days ago, take a look:

http://3392319564/ebay/?ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200085847636

The first one doesn't even have an ebay domain, both of the item numbers don't exist on ebay.

But here is the strange thing....

I forwarded the 1st one to ebay, who got back to me and said,

'Thank you for sending us the email you received. It does not appear to be a spoof email, but is an email from another eBay member.'

I replied and told them I disagreed as it wasn't from the ebay domain, they checked again and gave me the same reply!!!

Does anyone on here agree with ebays verdict??

G

Again, ebay is run by muppets. Its like talking to a brick wall. I lost all interested in what they have to say many years ago...

You ask them a simple question in plain english and you always get an incoherent, irrelevant response.

Ebay is a joke. I sent them this e-mail 5 mins ago (perhaps the caps lock worked)

'Please look at this again. I seriously doubt its genuine, the auction numbers in the link DON'T EXIST IN THE EBAY SYSTEM. I had an e-mail yesterday that was nearly identical WORD FOR WORD.

    Looks very suspect to me.

    Regards'

They then reply quick as a flash

'Thank you for sending us the email you received. We can confirm that it did NOT originate from eBay or PayPal. The email you received was a fake or "spoof" email. '

No explination as to how they reviewed the 1st one twice and the 2nd once and declared them to be ok.

    As you say kriss, muppets.

I was once having an ongoing email discussion with ebay over why they pulled one of my items (trying to point out their T&C wasn't relevant and just suffering the constant link to the same T&Cs back).

They always had great sounding names, think someone in the Far East looking in an English dictionary to come up with a Western name, and I once got a reply sent on Christmas day.

Maybe using English is the problem ;)

IE 7 has a 'phishing filter' which checks every website to see if it's genuine.

It slowed things right down so I turned it off straight away.
