Sweet peas grown up conifer?

Is it possible to grow sweet peas up a conifer? I have 2 large conifers on my lottie, both are in poor health and will be removed in the autumn, and the idea of growing sweet peas seems to be a good way to hide the dying brown foliage......will it work?

It could work on the sunny side - a couple of considerations -
getting enough water and goodness to the peas as the base of the conifers will be dry and in a rainshadow - maybe need a very large pot

being able to reach the sweet peas as they need constant picking to ensure repeat flowering

    Much nicer than conifers!!
