Hiiiii
I have recently considered IVA/DRO/DMP etc to shift debts from prev relationship....however I sucked it up grew a pair and dealt with it all - all bar one have accepted plans based on what I can afford and will take 6-7 years to clear them all but it will be worth it
the one left I am confident they will accept this, just only got in contact with them...
its a great feeling knowing that they are getting sorted and that I can do it myself

Hi freshstart
Nice to see you on the boardsLike you said, it's a great feeling knowing that you are on the road to sorting things out and finally facing up to things. I recently had my light bulb moment (LBM) and, even though I have a huge road ahead, a weight has already been lifted.
Good luck, and keep on posting. There are so many helpful and kind people here who understand just what it's like.

Hi SD
Im glad I have finally got a grip on this now, feels like a weight has been lifted and I do not mind opening post now. Still a lil concerned as doing in DMP alone but all seems to be ok at the moment.Official DFD: Dec 29Challenge DFD: July 23Debts Cleared: 1/13Building EF: £20/£600 3%0 -
Well done on facing up to your debts, and for doing the DMP on your own - you're braver than I am! As scattydove says, you're not on your own here. There are lots of us who have had the light bulb moment and are working to the same goal.0

When I was with my ex husband I looking in to a DMP with payplan but he wasnt grown up enough- in fact as a family memeber has taken over his finances, im still not sure if he has had his LBM but hey lol
My plan is to snowball and my fiance is gonna help me until it gets rolling to try and clear one debt in full asap. I am hoping to get clear of debts by 2020 at latest, but I hope for a lot, LOT sooner xOfficial DFD: Dec 29Challenge DFD: July 23Debts Cleared: 1/13Building EF: £20/£600 3%0 -
Well done! I started a DMP with CCCS in 2007, and it was the best thing I've ever done!
I read your signature about setting a DFD after your first debt is paid off, and thought I'd let you know I received a letter today from Barclays saying that my overdraft is now paid off. I was doing this :j in absolute joy as it is the 1st one I can cross of my long list! Now I'm on the downhill road to my DFD, and it's the BEST feeling! So :T to you for starting your own journey to being debt-free!I incurred the debt, I repaid the debt - all of it!DMP started with CCCS 20/07/2007 Was £32,735. Paid off all my creditors (June 2013) 7 yrs ahead of original DFD.
PPI claims won against Barclays x 2/ Egg x 1/ LV x . PPI claims rejected and then upheld Barclays/Egg x 20 -
Thank you - best feeling it really is, not having the phone ringing off the hook, or worrying about people coming to the door.
I changed my numbers and downloaded an app that rejects numbers not on my phonebook so I never see them come in even if they did.
I could have the first one clear in 3/4months with my fiance helping me and thats still paying towards the othersIts so nice looking at my budget spreadsheet and know its getting sorted x

That is great news and well done on getting this sorted out :T
Are you doing a self administered DMP or just paying off your debts in the normal way? I wondered if you have managed to get any of your creditors to freeze or reduce interest?LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

all have frozen interest - pay day loans Have offered a small amount per month on each one sso I know i can make a minimum but then clear more when I have it.
Gave a breakdown of my situation and a full income and expenditure and offered an amount for 3 months with a view to review. I then contacted them all on the 3 months date and requested to continue as my situation had not changed, they were all happy to continueOfficial DFD: Dec 29Challenge DFD: July 23Debts Cleared: 1/13Building EF: £20/£600 3%0
