Gas disconnection / reconnection
Options
Hi All
Southern Gas have said that since I have not had a meter for over a year they will disconnect the supply for 'safety - legal reasons'.
Anyone know if this is correct?
I wish to keep a gas connection (without a meter) in case I choose to 'go Gas' again and want to avoid reconnection charges or keep options open for a future property purchaser.
Any thoughts
Regards

Get a gas meter installed!
While not the case for all, in many cases, you can get significantly cheaper combined tariffs than electricity only.
I did not use any gas last year.
However, I got a discount of 50 quid simply due to having the connection.0 -

Yes it is correct, also they will not be getting any transportation costs from a supplier to maintain the service pipe to your property. They will not simply leave it if a possible future occupier may want to have a supply.
Once I find the relevant section in the regs I will post a linkI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
Yes they are correct, its treated as an abandand supply.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

There is no option for having a supply and no meter. The Gas transporter will move to cut off the unused supply due to legislation contained within the Gas Safety (Management) Regulations.
Its not that they want to create hassle for you. Its simply the law and they must comply.
Simple answer, find supplier with no standing charge, get meter fitted. There may be a one off charge.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
