Ohh I don't usually come on this bit of the site.
but wanted to say does it not depend on what it is your buying?
e.g. I can buy a bed and mattress for £130
or I can buy a much better quality bed and mattress for over 1k
to me the bed for 1k is much better quality and will last longer as will the mattress so costing less per use than the £130 bed.
(btw I don't have a 1k bed its just for comparison)
now if you mean the cheaper bed is a better option and spending 1k on a bed is a waste of money then I disagree.
if however you mean the 1k bed can be bought with a bit of searching for £800 then depending on how much time you have to research and how much your time is worth then yes I do agree.
bet that makes no sense at all:rotfl:

 the original prices are something to behold and I would never pay the sale price:)63 mortgage payments to go.

It makes perfect sense to me, I do that too.
I know what size I am so if I like (eg) a dress in M&S I can look and see if I can get it cheaper BNWT on Ebay, and why not
I do though feel sorry for people like my parents who haven't got internet and pay more for their goods and services because of this.
My gas and electric is cheaper because of peperless billing, but they are pensioners so should be able to get the same discount as me.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

yet you get some people who have the Internet and don't use it to even try to save money (either that or they like paying well over the odds for stuff)

agree but they can go to the library for Internet access (or do you mean they don't get along with the Net? ) there are classes out there for free still specially for net newbies of any age (but you probably need the Internet to find them and register) :rotfl:

I agree there being different circumstances for all types of purchases - I'd sooner pay for pasta and coffee in my local Italian than 1/3 that for McD's, as to me that is better value. Same with sofas - but I made sure I got the maximum discount.
I'll go on petrolprices.com and go to cheapest garage I'm going near to - I can't understand folk who pay 5p a litre more than the garage further down the same road.
Just been back from B&Q and bought some BOGOF plants. Place was mobbed but assistant told me I was the 1st person to ask for separate transactions, and when she'd suggested it to people most had said they couldn't be bothered with the hassle . They could be bothered getting in the car, choosing the plants, taking them home and planting them but couldn't be bothered spending an extra 2 minutes to use the very offer that attracted them there in the 1st place. Now that DOES annoy me .A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

It's a person's prerogative to pay as much as they care to , BUT it does drive me mad if they then go moaning about how poor they are. I know someone who thought that spending an extra 2 minutes cooking real oats in the microwave rather than a sachet was (time-wise) a money-saving step too far - needless to say they have no savings and no pension, and regulalrly run out of money !!0

Non-savers don't annoy me, but people who feel the need to constantly broadcast how much they've spent (whether a little or a lot) on something do.
Reminds me of a phrase:

We registered my MiL online so that she could benefit from the discount. :T"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Exactly this.
I also have no problem if someone pays twice as much for something as I have done, so long as they subsequently do not moan to me constantly they have no money, as they invariably do!.0 -

I find this to be the opposite.
In my experience it is the people who can least afford it that do not even care how much something is, and the people who can afford it, perhaps because they are more careful with their money, that do care how much something is.0
