Not really solving your problem but useful for anyone searching, a Bluetooth OBDII reader is about £15 on ebay and Torque is free for Android phones. I just used it to reset the fault on my SAAB 9-5
And just cost me 12 quid on Amazon, and you can send it back no questions asked if it doesn't work. Get one that conforms to ELM27 as well which will give you access to more of your cars systems should you have something like a Fiat.0 -

I bought a Bluetooth ELM327 off eBay for ~£9 and it worked really well with my Android tablet running the "Torque" app.
I sold the tablet, and I've never found any software that works properly for Windows unfortunatelyNothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
The bluetooth adapters are OK if your device is fast enough to cope with the data flow.
Tried it on my daughters old wildfire and its was barely ok for reading the fault codes. Live data was useless.
Galaxy SII on the other hand is usable.
Doesnt help that i am impatient.
Better options out there.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I've now been told that although the bluetooth device may read the codes they can't be used to reset them. This is because I have the 2.2 diesel X-Trail. Hopefully something in your list above will be able to read them. Not too fussed if they can't be cleared at this point but don't want to pay for something that is read only!0

see post 2:)
i have plenty of proper equipment but a basic code reader still comes in very handy especially at under £300 -
It would be the same with the handheld device. Apparently the X-Trail diesel can only be reset using Nissan Consult 2 or Consult 3 software for the later models.0

but you asked for a code reader
you didnt say you wanted live data and the ability to do actuations etcI bought the cable from Ebay a few years ago to use with VAGCOM so I could read the fault codes from my Golf. I now have an X-Trail and would like to check for codes0 -
I don't need live data, I would like to be able to read and reset codes.0
