Would More RAM Be Worth It?

I have a laptop, with the below specs. I mainly use it for email, general web stuff, and also gaming (COD4, CSS, BF3). Would I see any benefit from replacing the 1x4GB RAM with 2x4GB matched sticks?
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM Mobile Processor 2.20 GHz 6M Intel Smart Cache, Max Turbo Freq. 3.10 GHz
MEMORY: 4GB (4GBx1) DDR3-1333 SODIMM Memory
NOTEBOOK: A15HC Gaming Notebook 15.6" Full HD 1920x1080 Display
VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 2GB PCIe Video

I would think you'd have to have a 64-bit OS AND 64-bit apps running on it to have any chance of seeing better performance. But for email and anything web based, I think your broadband connection would be a more limiting factor. Not into gaming so I'll leave it to someone who is to comment on that side of it.

Sorry - should have said. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit is the OS.0

4gb of RAM is available for between £12.50 & £15, must be worth a punt.
I see that yr spec is sold in the US with 8gb RAM as a gaming laptop.

Crucial matched sticks (2x4GB) are currently just under £35. (If I did this I would buy matched sticks and then either keep the original as a backup, or sell it on Fleabay).
But yes - that is the laptop I bought from CyberpowerUK in January, but 4GB was the standard RAM then.0 -
Any 64 bit operating system really needs 4 gig of RAM to chug along nicely. Even if you upgrade to 8GIG, you won't feel any difference unless you are Ripping DVDs or doing any heavy graphics based tasks or gaming.
The graphics card you already have is sufficiant enough to play all the latest games at a good frame rate.0 -
No point keeping a backup, flog 'em they aren't going to wear out they have no moving parts.
I had 6gb's which was fine for the last couple of years but I was running into 'running out of ram' errors lately so I bought a new set of 12gb's. Should last a few years more.
You won't see any increase in perfomance though.0
