William Hill

Bet on five football matches last night which came on so I was happy. They credited my account so I withdrew it. This morning, my account has a negative balance. It seems one of the games was abandoned. Some bookies paid out, and others voided it. My question is can they void it after paying? Surely once they pay out, that's the end of it.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Usually it's all automatic, through auditing and manual processes they will retract a payout if incorrect.
It doesn't matter what other bookies do, if the game was abandoned you morally and probably legally owe them money.0 -
Hmm, I guess it depends on their T&Cs. I suspect the fact that they paid and then withdrew the money is irrelevant actually. In terms of legal redress, I bet (ha ha!) it all hangs on whether or not they're obliged to pay out. And as the result wasn't the result you bet on, I'd say not."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Indeed. And if it was an acca then you owe them the whole lot back as the bet was void."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

Is the money in your bank account yet. Because if they haven't processed it yet, they will re-credit it back to your account and take away the winnings for the team who didn't play.
So you will only win 4 matches. worst case they will refund your original stake.0 -
Same thing happened to me with paddy power and they just manually set it back to 0 as a "goodwill gesture". I doubt they can take the money off you now you've withdrawn it so worse case scenario it will just mean your account will have a negative balance. I don't think that's true. I'm sure William hill have T's & C's that say on an accumulator if one game is abandoned only that result is void and the remainder still count. A similar thing has happened to me and my 6 way accumulator became a 5 way oneThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Interesting replies, thanks
If it was an accumulator of 5 games and 1 is void, they pay out on a 4 game accumulator so would probably have taken back the difference. This wasn't though. It was a lucky 31.
"I guess it depends on their T&Cs. I suspect the fact that they paid and then withdrew the money is irrelevant actually."
I thought of this and found it interesting. If it said in the T&Cs that they could reverse payments after paying out, could that be considered an unfair clause? If I sold online and had a clause saying "contract is concluded one week after delivery", would I then be entitled to tell people that the price had gone up after they'd received the goods?
I also wonder about the company that made the news recently paying out early on Man Utd winning the title. Are they now entitled to take the money back from everyone? One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
That was betfred. The mans an idiot but I don't think he could ask for the money back! I think you're home free. If you've taken the cash I don't think there is anything else they can do.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. The latter was Betfred and due to the fact they laid the majority of the sum off - they lost little if any on the deal. They will have now effectively paied out on 2 teams to win the Premiership though.
What is a lucky 31?
In the long run you will earn rather than lose doing it the matched betting way and get better odds in other bookies and at an exchange."if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170 -

Well they can. My balance is £-17!
EDIT: A Lucky 31 is 31 bets on 5 games. So an individual stake on all possible combinations. Singles, Doubles, Trebles etc.One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0
