No.
But under The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994 there is a requirement to ensure that all electrical equipment is safe. So if you can figure out a way to do this without PAT testing, do so, but PAT testing is recommended.0 -
As a landlord I would never supply an electric lawn mower to a tenant, too many things can go wrong if used incorrectly.0

Pat test it. That's if you wnat the lawn maintained. Otherwise, pay for a gardner.0

Thanks, I`m the tennant by the way.. Not the Landlord. The plug on the lawnmower cable has no earth pin.. and the lawn needs cutting. But I don`t fancy risking it.:o0

Lawnmowers are usually double insulated, so do not require an earth. This is the same as quite a few domestic appliances these days, but they just have a disconnected pin.
That aside, lawnmowers should always be used with an RCD which would protect you even if there were an earth fault.0 -
Pat testing only applies to places of work. A rented house is not a place of work and falls outside the legislation so the mower would not need pat testing
From https://www.pat-testing.info/legal.htm:
"It is clear that the combination of the HSW Act 1974, the PUWER 1998 and the EAW Regulations 1989 apply to all electrical equipment used in, or associated with, places of work. The scope extends from distribution systems down to the smallest piece of electrical equipment."
However, it's not good to use any appliance with a damaged plug.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Not seen an orange coloured mains lead with an earth wire for many years. They all terminate in a small square socket which fits (only) the lawn mower plug.0

OP, you've obviously never mown a lawn before in your life - or only with a either a petrol-driven mower, or a manual 'push' mower."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
