He/she/it has likely assumed you weren't paying sufficient attention to the Flash installer to notice that a supplemental program was coming along for the ride. ;)

it should be noted that flashplayer has been a royal PITA over the last few months, many versions and conflicting updates, so keep an eye on things with it....touch wood, it looks like the current one has ironed out these issues....

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

I use Opera, with IE as a backup....too many beta Flash updates recently, instead of them sorting the issues before releasing versions....

BTW - if you download flash via filehippo, you don't have to worry about declining the mcrapee security scan...it's not included in the installer package ;)

But you still have to figure out which version you need. I don't have that much faith in other human beings.

    it's a pretty easy choice, IE-32bit, IE-64bit, nonIE-32bit or nonIE-64bit ;)

Or none of the above. Unlike the likes of FileHippo, Adobe will at least tell you if you don't need what they're providing:
Your Google Chrome browser already includes Adobe® Flash® Player built-in. Google Chrome will automatically update when new versions of Flash Player are available.

-Tanglefoot-, you are right to not have much faith in human beings, when I followed Gunjack's link I worked out that there were 2 for internet explorer. I didn't know which one to choose so thought the bigger one must be better, and tried downloading it. Unfortunately in this case bigger isn't better and the one I neede was the smaller version, which I only found out when I used -Tanglefoot-'s link. This is why us non techie's get into soooo much bother people assume we know what we are doing :)
