Apologies if this question has been asked before. I asked on another board but they redirected me here as you are the people in the know!
Is it cheaper to run electrical things (eg washing machine/dishwasher etc) at night time as opposed to the daytime? Or is it one flat rate for electricity?
thanks in advance

Depends, does your meter have 2 meter readings on it or just one?
If you have a single rate meter, it is a flat rate. If you have a two rate meter, you pay a premium in the daytime but get a much cheaper rate at night.0 -
Not necessarily. You can have a two-rate meter and not be on economy 7. If you have a two-rate meter, it would be a good idea to check your bills / ask your supplier to clarify.tripled wrote:If you have a two rate meter, you pay a premium in the daytime but get a much cheaper rate at night.0 -
True. I was going to put that but I was feeling lazy
I supposed I shouldn't have missed it really or the op could have ended up timing their washing machine for the middle of the night for nothing. 0 -
Thanks - I will check whether it does or not. We don't have economy 7 though and I'm pretty sure it is just the one meter for electricity and one for gas.:xmassmile:rudolf:0

Most suppliers will for an E7 meter for free if you ask them, but you have to use quite a lot of electricity at night to make a saving due to the expensive daytime rate.0
