Is it still safe to travel to Greece for Holiday?

Options
I'm due to be flying into Greece on 3rd June and I'm a little concerned as we will be two girls travelling alone. Is it likely that protests etc may spill out into the streets and riots etc like in Egypt?

If you see any trouble , which I don't think you will . walk in the opposite direction . Last year in London we had riots and rampaging mobs.......... but as I was never in those few streets , never saw/ heard a thing ( had to get all the news via the tv screen),99% of London just got on with normal life. Greece will be the same.Just go and have a wonderful holiday

I don't see any trouble on any of the islands - Athens I would avoid personally.

We're going to Greece in just over 2 weeks and have no concerns whatsoever about safety.

Our only concern would be if there is a run on the banks and the ATM's run dry, but we'll cross that bridge if we have to.

Advice from someone on Radio 2 today was the following

    Euro's should be ok
    No Real problems on Islands.
If going on Package holiday, If any airport strikes etc, Tour operator MUST get you home. Army and Police are getting trained in airport procedures.
Take some Sterling and credit cards with you just in case
MAKE SURE your travel insurance covers you for strike cover. A lot of the cheaper ones don't
Take additional medication with you in case of delays/being stuck.
Prices for food/drink on islands gone up quite a bit lately

In general there is a lot of media hype making it sound worse than it is. Most issues are in Athens, Reporter just been in Athens for 5 days, no sign of trouble.

I wouldn't worry too much though

No problems full stop! We have just got back from Crete and there was nothing happening apart from eating/drinking/sunbathing/reading - Oh and did I mention eating!:o

Go and enjoy yourself. If you are going to Athens then just keep an eye on the news and check with your hotel before going out.
