ford ka noises HELP

just had my car moted and it passed was scared to ask the garage about it incase they failed it but theres a noise like a ticking and it goes slower when i chamge gears. Its realy anoying and thing is im driving a fare bit on saturday and realy want the noise gone.any ideas what the noise could be, i realy need your help peeps!

Sounds like it could be your tappets. You could try a complete oil and filter change and see if this cures the problem. It's only an idea by the way as I'm no mechanic.

Oil and filter changes can be done for a reletively cheap charge at your local garage. I recently paid £30 for one. If it is that you need an oil change then it's a cheap cure, if it doesn't cure the problem at least you will not have to worry about changing the oil and filter for another fair few miles.

what size engine is it how many miles has it done, when was it last serviced

I agree with the first reply to this, it sounds like tappets, quite common on these 1.3 engines. They can easily be adjusted by anyone with a little mechanical knowledge. They should be adjusted every year or every 12,000 miles with each service.
