Very old "certificate of deposit"

Hi,

During clearing my recently departed Grandfather's house I found several certificates of deposit dating from 1920. They are 12-year mortage ones for San Antonio Land and Irrigation Co Limited.

Now, I am guessing they aren't worth much. The original investment was a total of £1500 but I'm wondering what to do with them now, if anything. Are they even worth the face value anymore?

  • Antiques eh? try historicstockmarket.com and ask them how much.

You basically need them valuing and you need an antiques dealer.

They appear to be going for £10 each on ebay at the moment, Their par value will be £100/$100. There should be a list of depositaries at the bottom who may still exist and you may still be able to redeem them but you're probably looking at an antiques dealer.

They do make great artwork for an IFA, I have some old bonds and such on my walls!
