This is pretty much what you'd expect at this stage of the recovery. Businesses need more hands at the wheel, but don't yet have the confidence to take on full timers. All going well, these part times roles will slowly transition to full time.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Its about time the real figures got released. Did you know that to calculate the number of JSA claimants, they use figures from a random selection of just 90 jobcentres ?. I found this out by talking to someone who works in one.
The unemployed over 60 are also being 'encouraged' to move to PTC as they are still unemployed, but have no need to sign on or jobhunt and are not counted for the purposes of calculating the number of peeps out of work.
Personally, I think they should include all people on ESA and I/B as well. Then we would see the true extent.Never Knowingly Understood.

THE shuffling has gone on for years under all the different parties/governments so nothing new there. It ws also common practice for unions to encourage staff being made redundant over 50 to go to the docs and get "on the sick" as it used to be alot more money and less hassle to wind down to retirement.

I know that here in brum there are approximately 52,000 people unemployed. I also know that the jobcentres have been manipulating figures (as they do all the time) because they do not include people who are on work schemes in their unemployment figures even though they are still claiming JSA.0

I have been unemployed for 11 months, my contributions based job seekers allowance ended at the end of December since then although being unemployed I am not counted, as I am not entitled to any benefit except to get my stamp paid - I stopped signing for this when the job centre wanted me to go on a 4 month back to work course. The assistant at the job centre encouraged me not to keep signing she told me to ask myself "if it was really worth the hassle just to get my stamp paid" I know 4 other people in my position who though are unemployed and seeking work are not in the count. Makes me wonder what is the true figure.Water is a basic necessity - not for profit0

On the other side of the argument, many employers are DESPERATE to recruit but can't find people with the right skills. We can't even fill our graduate quota and our list of outstanding experienced roles just keeps growing and growing.
The sad fact is that our overseas offices *do* seem to be able to recruit. And no, this isn't because it's cheaper to recruit outside the UK, simply that the UK doesn't seem to be training enough people with the right skills.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television.
