Buying cigarettes from Manchester duty free turned out to be expensive. Got on the plane to Dom rep and found 400 of the same cigarettes to be £20 cheaper!! Booze at Dom rep duty free was incredibly cheap compared to uk. $15 for a 1.5litre bottle of jack Daniels!!

I find that World of Whiskies at UK airports often has good prices.

Last time I flew I got a couple of Ardbeg 10YO 1 litre bottles for £42 each; that's equivalent to £29.40 for a 70cl bottle; cheapest I can see online is £33.75 + delivery. Not an amazing saving, but worth doing if you're at the airport anyway. The Shop & Collect service means that you can buy as much as you want on the way out, and pick it up when you get back.

Done this for years as I like dark rum and it's never available on the plane.
Just place it in your clear plastic bag, Manchester never bat an eyelid, Humberside check it, just take a small sample with a cotton bud

As to buying duty free, my treat of the year is two bottles of Woods 100 dark rum at Manchester, last year it was £15 a litre, cheapest I've ever seen in the UK is 70cl bottles that work out at £27 a litre.
Unless someone else can point out where I can buy it cheap in the UK
