That page only deals with NCD reduction in the event of a claim. You have benefited as a windscreen claim doesn't reduce NCD.
You were hoping for an increase - I don't see a wording to say your NCD will increase even if you have a claim free year.0 -

I am aware it says not REDUCE however, 'not reduce' does not mean 'not increase'. The policy should state something like:
"NCD is not reduced however, accrual of any NCD will be affected".
In the Quinn Direct case, the policy stated:
"A valid MOT certificate is required where necessary".
I was able to win on the grounds of two words in that clause "Where Neccessary".
Ill give it a whirl and let you know.
You would have won anyway, regardless of any phrase they came up with, the MOT has been done to death, insurers know they can't insist on a valid MOT as a condition of insurance.0 -

I don't see how they can't, it's an offence under Section 47 of the RTA 1988 to drive without one.Obligatory test certificates.
(1)A person who uses on a road at any time, or causes or permits to be so used, a motor vehicle to which this section applies, and as respects which no test certificate has been issued within the appropriate period before that time, is guilty of an offence.0 -

It's an offence to speed, to park on double yellow lines, to go through a red light..... they'll still pay. Mot's are the same.0

swiftcover appear to be first on the list of the 37 insurance providers who can't quote for my details according to confused.com
It's useful to know that they don't increase your NCB if you have a windscreen claim though. Is that for windscreen replacement, or just for them fixing a chip?
I thought with most insurers a windscreen claim didn't affect NCB. Is this just a swiftcover thing, or do other insurers do this as well?
I'm with Tesco and I've just checked my policy booklet and any windscreen or glass claims don't affect NCB.
Something I will be looking out for when I renew in future anyway...Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -

A few years ago I had a cracked windscreen and rang DL's glass claim number and it went straight through to Autoglass who took all the details and the final question was " Please confirm that we can submit a claim on your insurance policy to recover our costs above your excess?" This got me thinking and I rang DL who confirmed that a claim would be registered. In the end Autoglass quoted me almost £500 if I paid but the local main dealer fitted a new OEM windscreen for £374.
One final point if you Google any of the major windscreen manufacturers they all make it clear that they make windscreens to 2 different standards: OEM for the car manufacturers and Aftermarket for windscreen installers; i.e. Autoglass and similar. The Aftermarket process is quicker (i.e. cheaper) and the windscreens have higher edge stresses than the OEM (slower, more expensive) process.0 -
I not think this is actually swiftcover's problem, OP. if the companies you are getting quoted from ask about windscreen claims, or have it listed under "type of claim" then you're going to have to declare it.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Slightly off topic but my feedback from and and associated response to swiftcover - to put it in context, they could't replace my windscreen for over 2 weeks despite a 32" vertical crack in front of the steering wheel.
'Dear Mr XXXX,
Thank you for your recent communication.
Firstly, may I apologise for any inconvenience this matter may have caused. So your complaint can be investigated and allocated to the correct department, can you please confirm the glass company used to carry out the repair in question?
Kind Regards '

Mr 'YYY',
The repair is scheduled for Monday 21st May, therefore hasn’t happened yet - something I’m sure is logged on an internal swiftcover system which would have taken, at worst, 10 minutes to establish. To ask in the past tense ‘please confirm the company used to carry out the repair’ just goes to show how little interest swiftcover takes with their customers. I’m also surprised that swiftcover are asking ME who the glass company is! I contacted them via a number provided on the swiftcover website all of which you would have heard if you’d taken the time to listen to any of the calls I’ve made over the last 2 days. Rest assured, when they do eventually arrive to replace my windscreen I will make a note of the name on the side of the van and email you back post haste.
Unfortunately these are further examples of the poor level of service I’ve come to expect since moving my car insurance to swiftcover and ones I hope will be avoided when I change my insurers.
I am not sure that there is anything you can do on behalf of swiftcover to redeem yourself, however I look forward to hearing from you if you feel you’re able to restore my faith in your organisation.
