i'm in a rented house, so i don't want to be really putting a lot of time and effort into re-painting the skirting boards, but they need freshening up
is there a quick and easy way of preparing the surfaces before i paint them? i HATE sanding so i don't want to be doing that!!
i wasn't sure if i could just maybe wash them down with some sugar soap or something before painting them?

to be honest washing them down and drying them would probably be more effort. All they would need is a light sanding - just enough to key them. You'd be able to whizz around quite quickly. This is all I would do

To be honest sanding them I would consider the most important job.
I've done a good few meters in my house and used an orbital sander which helps alot.
Then I just went over them with some oil based satinwood and they look 100 times better.0 -
thanx.....looks like i'll have to get the sandpaper out after all:rolleyes:0

sorry if i'm stating the obvious but have you checked with your landlord your allowerd to diy? alot of leases don't let you do anything like that without express permissionDon’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0
