I'm not too worried about my end of it as I'll inform them he doesn't live here.

I really just want to know if he can pay the £175 and not the £390 because they seem to be acting dishonestly or mistakenly.

Much better if he can clear his justifiable debt and move on.

Its up to him, but remember that parking ticket fines do NOT count as a CCJ and do NOT go on your credit file. I would not be enriching scum like Philips, personally. They will not go actively looking for him, but will return the warrant to the council as soon as it gets difficult to enforce.

Thanks, I've told them he doesn't live here and they want me to email a copy of my council tax statement, so sorted in that way.

my dogs always answer the door with me, ive only had one come here, that was for the previous occupant, tried to be intimidating when i said sorry you have the wrong person, at this the older dog started to growl at him, he had the audacity to say ` ive been trained to handle dogs` my reply was possibly yes but its a bit hard if im also slapping you with a baseball bat, his reply from the garden gate as he left was ` i`ll be back` , four years later im still waiting

HO Ho Ho I would love to see his training if I let My giant Springer loose. He would rip him to shreds faster than he can see, never mind think about what to do.
These folk really do come out with some stupid comments.

Nah, I'd rather face a springer than a yorkie.

    Thank you all.
    Sounds like a magistrates fine.

I've spoken to my son and it's a parking ticket turned into a fine because he contested it and then missed the deadline due to him not picking his mail up from my house in time.
Can't send the letters back 'cos I phoned him and he got me to open them to see what they were.
They've charged a £215 attenance fee justified by him not responding to a letter we recieved 5 days later.
I know he's foolish to have let this run but surely they can't put charges on him for not reponding to a letter that arrived 5 DAYS after the charge for not responding to it. CAN THEY?

    this is important
where it says clients name on the right hand side of the notice of attendence, who is it, is it a council or a magistrates court?

Council, I assume but whatever he did about it he's ended up with a magistrates court fine, so he's definitely liable to pay the (now) £175.
The issue now is if they can levy an Attendance Fee of £215 on top of the £175 for not responding to a letter that didn't arrive for another 5 days!

i think their is a mix up in the letters somehow but

the notice of attendance will have the £215 added to it as its hand delivered.
the magistrates court set the rate in what fees can be added,
its not the norm 24 quid ish and 18.50 quid ish ones that apply to civil debt
