Question about car insurance NCD

I wonder if anyone can advise on the following.
I am selling my car and my insurance comes up for renewal shortly. I will be carless for about a month before the new one I've ordered arrives. If I _wait_ until I get the new car and then try to insure it, will my no claims situation be affected?
(due to a month or so without any car and without any insurance)

Will you be completeing your insurance year before you get rid of the car you have?
If you cancel the policy before the year is up you will go back to what ever no claims bonus you had at last renewal.
If you do the finish the insurance year, and then there is a gap before you get the new car, that is fine. Most insureres will recognise a no claims bonus that is up to 2 years old.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Good point, iceicebaby. Definitely don't cancel the old policy at 11 1/2 months - you won't get any money back, anyway, so might as well keep it going for the extra year's NCD.0

Thanks iceicebaby and MarkyMarkD, I think iceicebaby has given me the answer I was hoping for.
I've just got a buyer lined up for the old car so I will sell it, then the insurance will expire naturally (not cancelled) before the delayed arrival of the new car.
Thinking about it, I was probably trying to imagine a convoluted potential problem where none really exists.0
