Bathroom fitting problems

Hello

I have a rather small and rather old bathroom which needs replacing. Unfortunately there are a couple of obstacles to this in my flat.

Firstly there is a staircase running over the hallway which cuts the corner off the ceiling, meaning that there is only about a 5' tall space in which to bring the bath in. To get round this the developers installed a corner bath, but as I can barely fit in the thing I really don't want to go down that route.

The only other way of getting it in is through the back door, which presents another problem as the "garden" (back yard really) is surrounded on all sides. One of the builings surrouding it is a 1 storey with a flat roof, which backs onto the road. My question is whether it is feasible to get the bath (in it's packaging) onto the roof, over and down into my garden. I do not know how much a typical bath weighs etc etc.

Secondly, the toilet is currently next to the bath on the external wall, with the waste pipe going diectly outside into the drainage system. With a full length bath it would have to go onto the internal wall. Is it particularly a big job to re-route the waste pipe under the bath and onto the side wall? We are on the ground floor and have concrete floors in the bathroom.

Any help would be much appreciated.

modern plastic baths are not that heavy. 2 men can shift it over the wall ok.
moving the wc pan is ok too. make sure theres enough room to route the pipe around/under the bath though.
    Get some gorm.
  • excellent, thanks ormus.
