Car insurance (who does the claim go against)

Wondering if someone can help.....

Back in Dec 2010 I had an accident in our car. The policy was in my wife's name, and I was driving. As it was 'her' policy she made the claim.
My question is, when on comparison websites for car insurance, who does the accident or claim go against, when answering the question..."Any accidents or claims in the last 5 years"?
Thanks for any advice.....

If either of you are enquiring about insurance seperatle then both of you would have to declare it.

    You had the accident

The claim was on her policy

If you are looking for a policy, then you declare the claim.

If your wife is looking for a policy (without you on it) she declares it.

If your wife is looking for a policy (with you on it) she declares it against your history.

Thanks.....It's a joint policy on our family car. We put the accident against me, and it's noted against me on our policy. When going with another company this year they want another £100 off us as they say we have not declared my wife's accident, which she never had....

She is lucky that they have given her the choice. Often they cancel because of non disclosure. Then the wotsit would have really hit the fan when the next company she tries to insure with asks her 'have you ever had a policy cancelled' major repercussions and a lot more than £100. Pay up and smile would be wise.
