hi,dont think it could be the fuse,as power comes to the machine, just that the machine wonn't move.just sewing as usual, and the fabric got stuck, first of all, then after i' eventually got the fabric out, tried using it again and it wouldnt move ,you can hear the motor.

Have you opened up the bit where you put in the bobbin? I often find that thread has got caught in there and usually if you unplug and wiggle wheel a bit, you can see where it is caught up and by using scissors and tweezers can pull out the bits jamming it all up. You may also need a torch to see anything clearly. Sewing machines are fairly simple mechanically, complications only arise when computer patterns and stitches etc become involved I find. So if you have a simple electric machine, it is more than likely that.

Remove all thread from the sowing machine and from the bobbin.

So when you try and twist the knob on the side (assuming it has a manual adjust system) it still doesn't go up or down? is there resistance or does it not turn or does it turn freely but not move the arm?

If its the later theres a very good chance theres a belt loose (or in the case of the manual wheel not causing any effect) the needle arm has become detached from the drive shaft.

hi,coolhotcold, when i move the knob on side, there is resistance, and the needle arm does not move.when i have it as to wind the bobbin, then it goes round, but when i tighten the knob on side again, nothing
if the needle shaft has become detached, could i fix it,or will i have to get it repaired and will it be costly

can you not open it up?

You should be able to see pretty clearly inside it if it's became jammed or stuck/broken.
