FAO: James Jones Experian, mistaken identity issue.

James

Would you please be able to advise me if my issue is being looked into with regards to my mistaken identity case?

I have copied you in on emails I have sent to Tristan McSweeney, I am not hearing anything back so I thought I would post on here as you seem to reply.

I understand it is a complex issue and takes time but I would appreciate it if I could just be kept up to date with what is going on as I'm sure you can appreciate this is causing me a lot of stress and upset.

Thank You.

The power of MSE forum forced Mr James Jones to act. Probably would have dragged on for a lot longer. Poor show by Experian.

Hi fluffnutter, not sure if I mentioned it but you know about the letter I received from Advantis last week, well I have a file of all the letters ever received from these companies and looking at the letter from Advantis, it is actually for a debt Capquest ( incorrectly) sent to this woman to my address at the time back in 2008 chasing her for it then ( the amount and reference number match) , at the time I wrote to Capquest explaining the whole mistaken identity issue blah blah but obviously this got ignored, they have then sold the debt onto Advantis and the whole sorry saga has started again... Advantis have sent me the standard apology letter and said they have obtained my address as a possible address for this woman from the CRA so I'm now speaking with Experian to find out what the chuff is going on for this to happen again, shows what sort of company Advantis are though as the apology letter they posted to me which I received on Saturday, I also received it in the post again on Monday, Tuesday and yesterday, exactly the same letter !!!!! 4 times!!!!

This is the worrying bit isn't it? Somewhere your address is still linked to this other woman and it would appear that, despite the CRAs assuring you this was all sorted, it's not.

  • Aye, whether the link is there with the addresses still, or whether it's these people just assuming I'm her because of the similar first name, my maiden name being her current surname and same date of birth, god knows, but regardless this needs to be gotten to the bottom off, without sounding melodramatic, I don't have the strength to fight this anymore.... its such a complicated situation because of the all similar things we share, but the addresses or the debts isn't one of them, all these people say they aren't phishing by sending letters to my address but if there are no address links left between me and this woman anymore on my credit report, then surely they are just phishing because of the personal details we do share..
