Error in my Credit History?

in Credit cards
Hi again,
I just checked my credit report through my Experian account and was shocked to see that my rating has plummeted about 150 points in a month and is now only 'fair', down from 'v good'.
The major problem appears to be a 2 month late payment on my HSBC professional studies loan and an outstanding balance.
However, as far as I was aware this account was settled last month (balance indicating zero).
The last payment on the account was slightly odd though. For the last 8 years I've payed a fixed amount off the loan via direct debit. No problems. Apparently, due to calculation errors in interest rates etc. at the end of the fixed repayment period there was still an outstanding balance of about £400. Unfortunately, the direct debit agreement ended automatically at the end of the fixed period but this amount still remained. I received a phone call from the bank to point this out and we agreed to settle the balance in two £200 installments over two months. These have been made on time, as agreed, and the account is now settled in my mind.
However, Experian are showing otherwise. Still shows the £400 outstanding balance and no attempt to clear it.
This is making me feel really worried and sick. Is there anything I can do to re-establish my credit rating because this doesn't seem fair?
Cheers,
Mark

Evidently you need to speak to HSBC before getting sick or worried.
If they've made an error they can correct it for you (can take up to 28 days to show)0 -
Don't get worried or sick.
You need to speak to HSBC.
Experian only publish what HSBC tell them.
Yes if it's a mistake you can get it sorted.
It certainly is not fair if this was HSBCs error in the first place.0 -
If you have any problems, write to or email us about this and we'll take it up with them for you.
