Vine Weevil in my compost bin!!
I was clearing out some dead strawberry plants I had growing in pots and emptied the first pot into my compost bin, just as I was about to empty the second pot I saw vine weevil grubs in the soil from the first pot. I fished out what I could see but if there are still some in the compost bin will they die or have I now got a really big problem?

The little blighters are thriving aren't they? I feed mine to the fishes but some say to empty the contents out onto a plastic sheet and let the birdies have them.0

They will do no harm in a compost bin as they will eventually grow into weevils any way
If you want to use the compost earlier I suggest you spread it out on top of soil & let the birds eat them, once a robin or blackbird spots fresh earth works & human activity they will be downEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
The trick is to learn what they like and empty pots from suspect species very carefully, or just empty all pots as if there will be some hiding in there.
I would give them to the birds, but I enjoy squeezing them till they explode!:o0
