Having recently retired, I find that our two cars (mine and the wife's) are not really getting the use that justifies all the cost. Since my wife's car is the younger / better, I was thinking of ditching mine. We currently both have separate insurance policies (each named on the other's as second driver), and we both have 7 years + NCD.
What I want to know is how can I continue to qualify for the NCD should I decide a year or so from now that a shared car is not working, and go back to being a 2 car family?
Edit: When I said ditching, I didn't mean literally - I want to maintain the NCD not lose it!

A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove you don't need it.

Take turns insuring it each year, thereby both NCD's will remain alive.
Many companies accept NCD up to 2 years old.0

I am also looking to do this - doesn't the registered owner of the car have to be down as the main driver with the other person down as a named driver though?0

Although some companies may charge extra. And online comparison websites wont work for you as it assumes you are the registered owner and keeper.
Just make sure you mention it to cover yourself. I would imagine most will say in sposes name not a problem and the price is the same.
Just make sure the paperwork you are sent records it properly.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Any idea which companies actually allow this?
Also is there any guidance regarding keep no claims bonus(s) and around the law on not being the registered keeper but being down as the main driver on a policy?
Sorry for the questions but I don't fully understand it, which I suspect is because the insurance companies want to make twice as much cash!0
