Hello all,
Ive applied for a vanquis credit card as im now paying off other debts! I am going to use it very rarely and pay off the balance in full every month! I have got a experian credit check account and looked that i have a "Very Poor " Score... I did the deal checker under my accounta and it said id be elidable for the credit card? I applied about a week ago? How long more will i have to wait and also what chances do i have?
Thanks!1

Fewer than 20% of applications for a Vanquis credit card are sucsessful according to this document. Which surprised me because Vanquis has a reputation for giving a credit card to anyone with a pulse.
However, messages posted here suggest that Vanquis does take on some pretty hopeless cases.
If you don't have success with Vanquis, Capital One might be an option if you don't have an account with them already. They may offer you a Secured Card if you fail their credit check.0 -
Capital One does have a selection of cards, some aimed at people with less-than-perfect credit histories.
Your credit history should improve with time, particularly as you clear those old debts.

I second all the above, the Capital One cards do have prety decent acceptance for those with a less than great credit history so if Vanquis doesn't work they'd probably be a good shout

I applied for a Vanquis CC before I was even officially on the electoral register (I hadn't yet received the confirmation letter from the council) and got their granite card with a £500 limit, virtually no questions asked. I applied a bit later for a Capital One CC and they refused me on the grounds that "they couldn't verify who I was". I'm guessing my electoral role status wasn't yet on the CRAs.
It seems a credit history can build quite quickly though, apart from a small overdraft on my bank I had no credit at all at the beginning of this year, now I have a CC, a phone contract and a 3/5 rating.Oh, you wee bazza!0 -

According to your other thread on 'Debt-Free Wanabee' forum you already have Capital One and Barclaycard credit cards that you can not afford to repay, as well as a load of other debt- you have "debt collectors trying to take payments" -your words! You started a DMP over a year ago but still in a terrible mess with your debts- have you actually paid anything towards paying off your current debts?? -you were suppose to be phoning your creditors today and making a first payment on the 25th.
I reckon you've no chance of a Vanquis credit card! -even though they are aimed at customers with less than perfect credit score.0 -
Jenny i understand waht your saying
ive setup payments for 25th today well happy
