no chex

I just won an Ebay auction and they do not accept paypal, but do accept https://www.nochexcheckout.com Is this a sensible place to use my credit card?
The certificate is correct and in date, I have just not come into contact with it before.

I would use my Visa with it just to make sure, but I am a little warey.

It's an acceptable method of payment... a little less safe for buyers than paypal, but certainly permitted by ebay.

I've used Nochex to pay for an item once before and it was fine.

  • I recently opened a Nochex account and registered my bank details with them, but have been unable to register my debit / credit card details because of a problem they are having: -
Register Card Details - Currently Unavailable

Due to essential updates to the Nochex Payment System, the ability to register a new card is currently unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to your use of this service. Our teams are working as fast as possible to bring the service back online.

    Please check back soon.
Apparently this has been going on for about 2 months, I've been trying for about a month. Other than not being able to register card details I've received a couple of payments into my Nochex account but I can't withdraw the funds to my registered bank account until I've registed my card details!!!!

I've now stopped accepting payments into my Nochex account. Please see "http://greenroom.nochex.com/showthread.php?t=10365" for further details. On top of this, looking at the Nochex forum they appear to be closing loads of accounts down without any explanation, no prior warning, no correspondance, then holding onto the peoples funds.

    I wont use them again.

Basically if you stop using your NOCHEX account they will apply an administrative charge that just happens to equal your current balance, I was lucky and only lost around £13 but others have lost considerably more, DON'T leave ANY money in your nochex account if you wish to hold on to it. I was previously very much in favour of Nochex over Paypal but they seem to be in some trouble and are robbing their account holders to bail them out, the £13 I lost is just not worth the effort involved in pursuing, if you do have to use them download your money ASAP or risk losing it.

I am not aware of any risk to payers via Nochex but given their treatment of account holders I would say they are NOT to be trusted.

I used nochex to pay for some dvds I bought on ebay - they never arrived and the seller was suddenly showing as no longer a registered user.

I tried to do a charge back as you would with paypal but nochex told me they don't do that. Luckily it was only a few pounds, but it was still annoying and enough to ensure I will never use this method again.

My advice would be to pay through nochex only if you have 100% confidence in the seller and are sure you will not need to reclaim your money.
Oh dear, here we go again.

If you used a Credit Card or Visa Debit Card, you can make a chargeback via your bank

You dont need to register with Nochex when paying for an eBay item under £100 (or £300 if the seller has the option)

NochexCheckout.com is not actually anything to do with Nochex.com but it passes the eBay auction details onto them for payment

I just tried to login to my account & apparently it has been 'temporarily suspended' because of inactivity. Probably a blessing in disguise? Fortunately no money lost & no fees to pay. G
