LLoyds PPI on mortgage paid off 1989ish - any hope?

I guess the title says it all!

My first mortgage was with Lloyds and (being young) I was told to take out PPI insurance as this would protect me from things like unemployment, redundancy etc.

As I was a director of a limited company, this was totally useless. The bank knew my status as I had to submit 3 years of accounts.

The mortgage was taken out in 1985 and paid off in 1989. I have no paperwork at all.

Is it worth a go or is this hopeless? I'd normally assume the latter but I did get compensation from Lloyds when I claimed mis-selling on the mortgage as it was an endowment.

You want to claim the misselling of a general insurance product that took place 27 years ago (when there was no regulation covering such sales) and you had for a period of 4 years, ending 23 years ago?

I personally would go with the hopeless vote.

I would have thought hopeless were it not for the fact that I got just over 4K for endowment mis selling. I had no paper work, the policy had been paid off and was umpteen years old so it was a punt for the price of a second class stamp...

Investment class products became regulated in 1988 and the banks agreed to review earlier cases if there was a complaint. Insurance became regulated in 2005.
