private parking fing ukcp

Hi
Looking for advice. I got a so called penalty charge from parking in the pick up point of local tesco...was there a few minutes picking up. The origional penalty has no amount on it. A week or so later i got one for £80 for not paying the first one...now ive received a letter from a collection agency! where do i stand ?

    You owe them nothing.

    You haven't even contravened any parking conditions (you were picking up in a pick up point???!! What a heinous a crime to commit!!!). That's beside the point that even if you had contravened any of their terms and conditions they are entitled to seek their actual losses only. Which in a free car park is zero.

    Be aware that debt collectors have zero powers, they can politely ask for the money, and that's that. They are also a well known step in what is a very well known chain of letters, and can be safely ignored also.

  • Thanks its a bit scary when you recieve the letters....first one says pickup point and no fee charged...second says taxi rank...n then the debt collector!..i shall ignore them all with ease now...maggie

    They are actually trying to scam you. Remember that. And keep the first letter safe, although the odds of you ever needing it are the same as your chances of winning the Euromillions this week.

    Yes, just a well-rehearsed way of trying to scam you out of your money. Ignore, and keep on ignoring. They WILL go away.
