Im not quite sure what to expect from them. Probably a home visit, even though I said they are not to.

I don't think you'll get a home visit. The DCAs just use this as a threat to get people to pay, I wouldn't worry about it. If they did make a home visit, they have no legal rights whatsoever and you can simply ask them to leave. If they don't then call the police.

Only court appointed bailiffs have the right of entry and the right to remove your belongings. DCAs would have you think otherwise but they are just bullies. Ignore them.

I agree that it is unlikely you will get a home visit; they would need a court order to gain forced access to your property.

What you can probably expect is that they will ignore your request to communicate only by post. They will want an opportunity to bully you into submission. If they should call you by telephone then you should refer them to your letter and refuse to discuss the matter at all. If they have anything to say to you then they should put it in writing.

If you stick to your guns there is every chance they will just give up unless they can provide you with the information you have quite rightly demanded.

If you run into any difficulties then put a post on the Debt-free Wannabe forum where there is plenty of good advice from people who know how to deal effectively with DCAs from bitter experience.

    Good luck.

They have no telephone contact details for me. They have no details like bank accounts as i set the standing order up myself. The only way they can contact me is by letter or coming to the house. I have been reading up on if they come to the house. This site has been a great source of help and ive recommended it to a few people already. :)

Do you still think they will be paying you a visit ?

I don't think they have got a leg to stand on here. They have bought some old debt and are fishing for what they can get. If they do write to you again I would send them the "prove its my debt" type letter suggested by Consumerist and even attempt to turn the tables on them by telling them that you consider their actions to be harassment and will be reporting them to Trading Standards or even the police.

They'll soon move on to their next [STRIKE]victim[/STRIKE] customer.

    Good Luck.

That is correct, however court appointed bailiffs do have some legal rights. They are, for example, allowed to enter through and open door or an open window. Also once they have gained entry their rights are increased and they are able to return and demand re-entry. You are best to keep all windows and doors closed and do not open the door to them. They can then do nothing.

However, in this thread we are talking about debt collectors who have no rights whatsoever and are making out that they do in an attempt to secure payment. If they are not given permission to be on your property they are trespassers and should be treated as such.
