Idiot repressurising combi boiler question!

Feel free to laugh at me:D

My boiler needs repressurising (got the annoying E119 code last night) so,after seeing it done loads of times went to do it myself this morning so I could have a shower.

Could only turn one thingy on the refilling loop and that lead to water coming out (I'm trying to refill the system not the cupboard:rotfl:)

So,are you meant to turn the other side first:o or is the water coming out on the end I could open something dodgy?:o

I imagine it's the first, but before I call someone out to do it for me,I want to make sure I look as little a wally as possible:D:rotfl:

Make / model? Not the famous DuoTec is it?

As thats a Baxi if you go to the Heatteam site you'll find a downloadable "how to" pdf. Might save a long thread. :D

As you have an external filling loop it should have a valve at either end which is what I suspect you have from your description. The loose end (for what of a better expression) should be connected to the boiler before attempting to repressurise and then disconnected afterwards. Open the source end tap first then the tap at the boiler.

But you need to find out why its lost pressure. Your "annoying E119 code" statement suggests this is not the first time. Are you sure the problem doesn't lie with the expansion vessel?. Have you overpressurised at some stage so that the PRV lifted, dumped it all out in the yard and then failed to reseat properly leading to a continuos leak?

    Cheers

It is a Baxi Duotech!28 HE

Had the E119 about 3 times in the past 9 months I think, had it for almost 5 years now and it's only been the last year. It's never been over pressurised as far as I'm aware -usually call someone out to do it:o

Both ends are constantly connected to the copper pipes.I couldn't turn the valve on the left and the one on the right leaked water out of itself when I turned it:rotfl:

Better call someone to do it for me:D

Already made the call:o Thanks though :)

I don't think it helps that I couldn't turn one of the valves (have loads of posi drives but no flat heads screwdrivers in one piece so used a knife and it really won't turn that one)

Just make sure he/she explains to you how to do it for future reference... even take notes if necessary.

Just last week I did the very same for someone and she's now fully clued up on how to do it for herself in future. My loss - but a happy customer!

the reason for the drop in water psressure is sometines down to the expansion tank
i dint believe it till i saw it but they put a hand/foot pump around back of the boiler and put 1 bar in i think
thats why u may keep getting the drop in pressure my plumber gas man said every few years this needs doing but isnt widely known

Now I do feel like an idiot:rotfl: There was already someone in the area so he's just been.

Only had to turn the one I was turning as the other valve was already open (guy can't have closed it last time).2 seconds and I now have hot water again:T
