This is not exactly a technical issue and I would appreciate that if this may not be the correct forum, but whatever, this a ‘heads up’ on the flim flam surrounding manufacturers replacement cartridges.
I have just been researching to buy some HP 364XL cartridges for my printer and noticed that the XLs (in green packaging) are now being sold as a four cartridge package i.e. one of each colour. The cheapest deal that I could find earlier this morning was 19.99 at Amazon manufacturers part number HPSD534EE.
The HP packaging is not marked XL nor are there any print yields published on the Amazon website so I emailed HP Customer Services. that unfortunately HP do not have a pre-sales team for printers and printing accessories, this is usually all done online, and they can however recommend that I contact our authorised resellers MISCO.
Misco stock the item at 20.99 (Misco No.: Q314765) but told me that the print yield on the black cartridge is just 250 pages (my spare sitting here on the desk beside me is 550 pages) and the colours are 300 pages per cartridge.
Why can’t HP be more transparent about the cost/yield of these cartridges or are they so desperate to make a profit they do not care how they make it? My aplogies to HP if Misco gave me the wrong information but I did check twice that it was 250 pages.
