Newbie To Travel Insurance - Help Needed!

Hi Guys,
Newbie to Travel Insurance so please be gentle
My Brother and I will be heading to New York for a few days before flying straight to the Cricket World Cup in Barbados next month. We will be watching a number of high-profile matches and plan on doing some inter-island travel (via air and sea) while we're there too.
The total trip has cost us a lot of money and the last thing we want is to miss a match because our internal flight got delayed or somehow lose our tickets while we're there.
I am basically after a policy that would cover the cost of the match tickets I have as well as cover for any delay of travel that may occur. I would also like usual cover for personal posessions/health etc.
Now considering the above:
- Are there any special terms or types of cover I should look for before booking up Travel Insurance?
- Would I be better off getting an Individual Trip or Annual Policy for both of us?
- Would "family" travel insurance cover two brothers or do we need to have our own kids travelling with us?
- Any insurers you can recommend?
Thanks in advance for your help!
