Update...
Today Elephant have declared the car a total loss. Having spoke directly to the local garage the car had been sent to an worker there has stated the repairs were estimated at £2600...much to my amazement! However he's told me to get the car valuation (what there willing to pay for repairs) and he'll see what he can do.
Having also spoke to a relative who works with cars he's estimated a repair cost more like £1500.
So I've called Elephant and asked for the engineers report to which they've quickly bypassed saying there are a few pages missing from it and the companies systems are down where they'd be able to get it.
This leads me to ask:
1) Do they have to give me the report should I request it?
2) If I can't get the decision overturned do they HAVE to give me an option to buy the car back? If I do buy it back and get it repaired what are the future implications?
3) Any tips on haggling the settlement payout?!
Many thanks!0
