Why not? As you're buying it anyway.

EA will see it as a positive sign of your intentions.

Estate agents are used to this, so don't be afraid to ask!

The only word of caution I would add here is that if you invest all this time, order the kitchen and the sale falls through you are going to be very peeved.

Also if the estate agent / vendor knows how keen you are there is the possiblity of being gazupmpt by a phantom new buyer at the last minute for a few extra grand. The theory being that you've spent all this time and money so your going to find the extra money. (or am I the only twisted individual who would think like this?)

The kitchen designer is going to be there for some time (2 hours possibly) and you are really going to need to be supervised by the EA. I don't think they will have time for that sort of thing, especially with the other tradespeople you have coming round.

If it is a small kitchen, just take measurements of the walls, windows and doors and where they sit in relation to each other and take a drawing down to B&Q, they have some people there that can design a kitchen for you. Sometimes you have to go back at a different time to meet someone able but you can ask for the times they work at :)

Otherwise I think you should wait until you move in. If you got drawings from MFI and took them to Howdens, you can actually take the kitchen away same day. You should always try to find your own fitter for the kitchen as all the majors charge a small fortune for fittting.

tradesmen, (if the house is empty) are normally trusted ie the have a company if anything was an issue to fall back on, so should be fine x when buying our house, we had electrician, kitchen fitter, plumber and builder all go around before contracts were delt with x good luck x

i went to b and q yesterday with my drawing and sorted the kitchen and they said that the fitter will need to come and look at the kitchen to assess the work needed.

we chose a £990.00 kitchen and they will charge £3,450.00 to take the old one away and fit the new one!!!!!!!!!

  • We're planning to get a new kitchen for the house that we're moving into next week, but I would personally suggest that you move in and live with the old one for a month. Then you will be able to get a feel for exactly what you want to put in where and how you want it laid out. Nothing worse than rushing into something and then later realising you could have done it better.

    Have fun!

yeah forget b and q! they quoted me more than the cost of the kitchen to fi it , you should ring round carpenters. i got my kitchen fitted for £400. rather than £3000.build the units up yourself, just get them to hang it all
