Parking Eye - unbelievable ticket - help!

Long story short - I stopped at the services near Stansted, just the petrol station part, to get coffee and use the loo on my way north up to near Peterborough. Several hours later I stopped on my southbound journey at the same place, again bought coffee etc. I did not use the Welcome Break part at all.
Anyway, my dad received a parking fine from them (my car is for some reason in his name). It says I parked there for 6 hrs 1 min !!! It shows my car entering and exiting the complex, but not being parked up.
As I didn't want dad getting any more letters, and I do know about the writing a letter saying you are not the driver but I didn't want to involve him, I wrote to them saying I was not paying (did not use the word 'appeal') as I had not parked up at the main services, and if they examined their tapes they would see me leaving after about 20 mins that morning, and re-entering about 20 mins before their later timed photo of the afternoon. I explained where I had been, that I had proof of this by way of confirmation from the people I had met on business, phone records, even the accident I was stuck near on the motorway etc, and that I wanted them to provide me the tapes or prove that I had been park up at Welcome Break for that length of time.
Dad has had another letter from them (despite me putting my name and address on my initial reply to them) and it says that since I have failed to provide any evidence to the contrary, the fine still stands. In very small writing at the very bottom of the letter it says that they will not communicate any further with him unless it is him providing said evidence.
What to do? I don't have receipts or anything from my time between visits to prove I shopped somewhere else. I also do not think that the space behind the petrol station is technically part of Welcome Break but either way it does not have designated parking areas.
Should I now send them the 'I was not the driver' letter from my dad? Should I just leave it - it will go away. Surely it is up to them to prove I was there for that duration? It will all be on their camera tapes if they haven't deleted it all.
Another strongly worded letter to them, or keep quiet?
Advice please - I'm in a panic about it really.
Many thanks.

first of all its not a fine, private companys can not issue fines, or penatly charges
You can ignore any futher correspondance, or you can tell them that you owe them nothing as..
the charge is ridiculous, and is in effect a penalty charge/fine , which as im sure that they are aware can not be enforced.
Secondly their letters amount to harrasment, and if they dont stop sending them you may take acton against the service area, and parking eye as they are both jointly liable for the actions of parking eye.
if you want to go down the harrasment route, make sure that you factore the service area in ( welcome break?) as wellFrom the Plain Language Commission:

Can't understand what all the panic is about or why on earth you replied at all? Your Dad and you can ignore these and both need to know that.
THIS IS A SCAM. A FAKE PCN.
Ignore it and read the second to top thread for the Watchdog link and the preview of the letters you should be ignoring and should always have ignored.
Calm down, it's just a mail scam, like phishing emails. Not a fine!! :eek:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I haven't even read most of your post. I only needed to see two words to know what to advise you.
Parking Eye!
It doesn't matter what the circumstances are, you have been given a FAKE and UNENFORCEABLE ticket. Do not make the mistake of thinking it is real, which you seem to be doing!
They think they have you wriggling on a hook like they do so many of their victims. But now you've come here, you can relax.
DO NOT PAY
DO NOT WRITE PHONE OR E MAIL THEM and tell Dad not to.
All you have to do is to ignore them and after a few letters in which the threats will get more lurid/ the amount will go up/ you may hear from phoney debt collectors and solicitors..
They will realise you are WISE to their scam and they will clear off. There will be NO COURT NO BAILIFFS NO CREDIT RATINGS.
That's why their nickname is Parking LIE.0 -
I have been convinced for a few years that ANPR cameras and systems are set up to only send an invoice for the first and last exit, in your case ignoring the first exit and second entrance. At some point, bearing in mind the new legislation when active, this will come before a court and be found to be the fraud it is.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Yup, this is a bare-faced scam. Just ignore them from now-on and check the forum sticky to see Parking Eye's entire letter chain so you and your dad know what rubbish to expect next.0
-
Yeah, I've seen loads and loads of these where they know full well that there is two visits and they see an opportunity to scam the motorist by missing out the first exit and second entry.
Its a very well known scam.
It gives you an idea of what you are dealing with here. A perfectly legitimate company, trying to manage the difficult scenario of parking on private land, or a bunch of chancer con-men?
I'll let you decide.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
As peter_the_piper demonstrates, this just shows what an utterly dishonest scam this is. There are so many threads where two visits many hours apart magically become one long visit, one has to suspect it's a deliberate act on the part of the parking companies.
You have no need to prove anything. Even if the parking charge were legitimate (which it's not, as they cannot demonstate a loss), they would have to prove that you were parked there for 6 hours.
Just ignore them from now on, and they'll go away ... eventually.0 -
Yes, remember its not 'one' photo they've mislaid, its TWO (first exit AND second entry). And its ALWAYS the two middle ones, never the first, or the last.
Its too much of a coincidence and too commonplace to be an 'error'.
Its a deliberate scam, in my opinion.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
purely a scam, no legal backing, so ignore everything sent on or on behalf of these clowns,, e.g. roxburghe (we have zero powers) debt collectors,,,and situated on the next desk along,,graham (i am a phoney ) solicitor white,,,they are all part of the same scam, so ignore them and the loo paper they send you as nothing can/will happen, no matter what they threaten,, remember two things,,,,a)its a scam and b) would they really carry out their threats on a SCAM,,ignore and relax, feet up, you have not been fined , you have a PARKING charge notice,,only a PENALTY charge notice is legit,,so jobs a good un.0

Your dad needs to be made aware that these people are scammers who impersonate authority that REAL parking tickets have by law, the one you have is a FAKE and has no authority or law.
The legal definition of what you have is an "Invitation to pay a private invoice"
That if he plays the game, they will empty his bank account with late payment charges, extra charges for this and the other.
You need to sit him down and make sure he understands 100% that someone is trying to scam him and that these people have no more authority than a Nigerian Scammer phising mail to charge you anything.
That IGNORING them will work !
That they will change characters in the scam to impersonate and will become fake debt collectors, fake solicitors, snow white and the seven dwarfs may put in an appearance if they think it will make you pay the scam.
On another note
You may want to look at this keeper arrangment if this is your car, you may be driving with no insurance, so whilst of no concern to parking "we talk out of our" Browneye, they may have pointed out a favour to you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
